A South Africa Casino to Salute Unlikely Animal Friendships

November is celebrated as Animal Friendship Month at a South African Casino - Springbok Casino. The focus and aim is to create awareness of that many wild animals face from poaching.

The casino will be sharing some of the warming stories about some of the unusual animal friendships that are shared when baby animals, who were orphaned by poachers, are rescued.

On their blog is a story about a little Rhino named Osita who became best of friends with Bokkie the goat at the Aquila Animal Rescue Centre. Osita was abandoned by her mother she was raised together Bokkie at the centre.

Two other unlikely companions are Kiko the Giraffe and Loboito the Elephant, both rescued to prevent poachers they are being taken care of by David Sheldrick, Wildlife Trust caretakers.

Themba, a baby elephant, lost his mother at six months of age when she fell off a cliff and died. He is being raised with his best friend, Albert the sheep at the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
